One of SOSTRICE’s beneficiaries, CITAGRO, participated in AgWATEC, International Agriculture & Water Technology Exhibition & Conference and Environmental Control, which took place in Seville (Spain) on 7th-9th November 2016. The project was presented within a Round Table regarding “Bioeconomy: agricultural and agri-food waste”, chaired by the Head of Soil Waste and Quality Service of the Regional Ministry of the Environment and Territory of the Government of Andalusia, Mr Leandro Sequeiros.
Mr Alejandro Rodríguez, Managing Director of CITAGRO, gave a presentation about the project entitled “CO2 emissions reduction of the rice cultivation through energy valorisation of the rice straw”, highlighting the opportunity the project provides to the rice sector when proposing sustainable alternatives to the rice straw management, with different environmental benefits such as the reduction of greenhouse gases emissions or the replacement of the use of chemical fertilizers with others arising from the waste (rice straw) treatment.
This International Exhibition has involved the participation of different organisations, researchers, producers and agribusiness, who made available to the agri-food sector their experiences and technologies focused on the improved management of by-products in the primary sector, among other subjects.
